Reasons why you cannot deposit or receive funds from XM and how to deal with it

There are several possible reasons why you may be unable to deposit funds into your XM trading account using domestic bank transfers, credit/debit cards, online wallets, or virtual currencies (crypto assets). Please check the possible reasons and solutions for each of the seven deposit methods offered by XM, and use this information to help resolve deposit-related issues such as “I can’t deposit,” “My deposit isn’t reflected,” or “My credit card won’t work.”


XM supports seven different deposit methods. Below is basic information such as fees, minimum deposit amounts, and reflection times for each deposit method offered by XM.

Activating a real account

With XM, you must activate your real account before making your first trade or deposit . Account activation refers to the KYC (Know Your Customer) procedure, which requires you to upload images of one ID document and one current address verification document. You will not be able to make a deposit until your submitted documents have been approved and your account has been activated. If you are unable to deposit funds into your XM trading account or your deposit is not reflected, please check whether your account has been activated.

Once you have activated your XM real account, you will receive a new account opening bonus of 15,000 yen that you can use for trading right away. XM Minimum Deposit

XM sets a minimum deposit amount for each deposit method. If you deposit an amount below the minimum deposit amount, the deposit will not be accepted when you make a deposit from the XM member page, as the deposit amount is insufficient. Please check the minimum deposit amount for each XM deposit method in advance.

At XM, bank deposits and cryptocurrencies are available for deposits of 10,000 yen or more, and various online wallets are available for deposits of 500 yen or more. Please note that the minimum deposit amount for credit/debit card deposits varies depending on the card brand.

XM Maximum Deposit Amount

XM sets a maximum deposit amount for each deposit method. Please note that depending on the deposit method, there is not only a maximum deposit amount per transaction, but also a maximum deposit amount per day. Amounts exceeding the maximum deposit amount cannot be deposited (will not be reflected), so please check the maximum deposit amount for each XM deposit method.

Domestic bank transfer (bank deposit) is the method that allows the largest deposit amount at XM and has no daily deposit limit. Various online wallets and online payment services have a lower maximum deposit amount per transaction than other deposit methods. However, there is no daily deposit limit, and you can deposit an unlimited amount by splitting it into multiple installments. Please note that the maximum deposit amount for credit/debit card deposits varies depending on the card brand.

Input amount of deposit

One reason why you may not be able to deposit funds into your XMTrading trading account or your deposit may not be reflected is that the deposit amount was entered incorrectly. When entering the deposit amount during the XM deposit process, please enter it in half-width numbers up to two decimal points . The XM membership page does not allow you to enter the deposit amount using full-width numbers. Also, if you enter the amount using half-width numbers, it will automatically be entered up to two decimal points. If you enter an amount outside the minimum/maximum deposit amount range, an error message will be displayed, so please check the amount and enter it again.

Name of payment method used for deposit

At XM, the name on the payment method you use to deposit must be the same as the name registered to your XM trading account . To prevent money laundering, XM does not accept or accept deposits from payment methods or bank accounts in the name of a third party. For example, we cannot accept deposits from credit cards or debit cards in a family member’s name, or if the card holder’s last name differs from the XM trading account holder’s last name due to marriage, etc. Also, even if the XM member page displays a “Deposit Request Completed” message, if the names do not match, the funds will not be reflected in your trading account and you will need to redo the deposit process. Please double-check the name on the bank account, credit card/debit card, or online wallet you use to deposit.

There are five possible reasons why you may not be able to deposit or your deposit may not be reflected using domestic bank transfer with XM. Here we will explain how to deal with each of the five reasons why you may not be able to deposit using domestic bank transfer with XM.

Why can’t I deposit money into XM via domestic bank transfer?

  1. Incorrect input of “Remitter’s name”
  2. The XM account name and the remitter name do not match

Reason 1

Incorrect input of “Remitter’s name”

Solution: Contact the support desk with the bank transfer details attached.

When depositing funds to XM via domestic bank transfer, you must enter the “Reference Number” and “XM account registered name (in Roman letters)” in the “Remitter’s Name” field . The reference number is a sequence of numbers issued each time you deposit funds when you proceed with the procedure from the member’s page. XM automatically reflects funds based on the information entered in the “Remitter’s Name” field. Therefore, if you forget to enter the reference number or your XM account registered name, it may take longer than usual for the deposited funds to be reflected. If you forget to enter the “Remitter’s Name,” please contact the XM support desk and attach a screenshot or photo of the transfer details.

There is an error in the bank transfer information specified by XM

Solution: Check the correct transfer details on the XM member page and make a deposit

If there is an error in the transfer bank information specified by XMTrading, the deposit will not be reflected. If you make a deposit using incorrect transfer information, the transfer will usually be returned after obtaining approval from the account holder to whom the deposit was made. XM’s domestic bank transfers are made between banks in Japan using a payment processing agency, so you must transfer to the bank account specified by XM, which is our partner . As the bank account information of our partner payment processing agency may change, please be sure to check the transfer information on the XM member page every time you make a deposit.

Reason 4

The sending bank is closed

Solution: Wait until the bank’s next business day or use a bank that accepts transfers 24 hours a day, including weekends

XM accepts domestic bank transfer deposits 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. However, please note that because the deposit is made via bank-to-bank transfer, if the sending bank is closed, the deposit will not be reflected immediately . If you transfer funds to XM outside of business hours, the deposit amount will not be reflected in your XM trading account until around 9:00-10:00 a.m. on the following bank business day.

  1. Even if you deposit during bank business hours, if you transfer funds close to the end of business hours, it may take longer than usual for the funds to be reflected in your XM trading account.
Reason 5

There are insufficient funds in the sending bank account

Solution: Deposit the balance into your bank account or change the deposit amount to XM within the account balance.

There may be cases where the deposit is not reflected due to insufficient balance in the sender’s bank account. Please note that in particular, if the bank transfer is made at a later date or if there is a long time between the transfer and the withdrawal, it may be difficult to notice that the account balance is insufficient. When making a domestic bank transfer to XMTrading, please make sure that you have sufficient account balance in the sender’s bank account before proceeding with the deposit procedure.

Solution: Use credit/debit cards from different issuers

Even if you use a VISA or JCB credit/debit card that is supported for deposits to XM, you will not be able to deposit if your card issuer prohibits deposits to FX brokers . For example, since 2018, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank credit cards have been prohibited from being used for “foreign exchange (FX) trading, foreign currency purchases, and overseas affiliated transactions such as stocks, guaranteed securities, and investment trusts.” To find out whether your card prohibits deposits to overseas FX brokers, please check your card issuer’s terms and conditions or contact your card issuer. If prohibited, please use a card from another issuer or other deposit methods such as domestic bank transfers or online wallets.

Reason 3

Your credit card limit has been reached

Solution: Make a payment after the current month’s payment is completed or use another payment method

If you are using a VISA or JCB credit card that XM accepts but your deposit is not reflected, please check your card’s credit limit. If the credit card you use to deposit to XM has reached its credit limit, you will not be able to deposit. Deposits to XM are made using your credit card’s shopping limit. Since deposits are made in the same way as payments for everyday purchases, please check the shopping limit, not the cash advance limit .

Additionally, XM sets maximum deposit amounts per transaction, per day, or per month depending on the card brand. Please note that if you have reached your respective limits, you will not be able to deposit funds to XM using the same card until the following day or the following month. If you are depositing funds by credit card, please check both XM’s maximum deposit amount and your credit card’s credit limit.

Reason 4

There is insufficient funds in the debit card account

Solution: Add funds to your debit card account

If you are using a VISA or JCB debit card that XM accepts but your deposit is not reflected, please check the balance of your debit card’s withdrawal account . When you use a debit card to make a purchase, the payment amount is immediately deducted from the account to which it is withdrawn. Please deposit funds into your debit card’s withdrawal account to ensure that the balance is equal to or exceeds the amount you wish to deposit into your XM account, and then deposit funds into your XM account again.

The name registered with XM does not match the name on the card.

Solution: Use a card with the same name as your XM trading account or apply for a corporate account

XM only allows deposits using cards in the same name as the XM trading account . Deposits cannot be made using credit/debit cards registered in a family member’s name or credit/debit cards registered under a maiden name that have not been changed. Please also note that corporate cards in the name of the representative cannot be used to deposit funds into personal accounts. If you wish to use a trading account as a corporation, please open a corporate account and then contact the XM support desk to request deposits using a card in the representative’s name.

The card has expired

Solution: Update your card or use another payment method

If you are unable to deposit funds using an XM compatible credit/debit card or your deposit is not reflected, please check the card’s expiration date. Since you cannot deposit funds with an expired card , please complete the card renewal procedure and deposit funds with a new card or use another deposit method. Also, when making a deposit on the XM member page, please make sure you have entered the information correctly. For example, make sure you have entered the expiration date in year-month order instead of month-year order.

Reason 7

Uses a prepaid virtual card

Solution: Use a credit/debit card or other payment method

XM does not support deposits using prepaid virtual cards. Prepaid virtual cards are prepaid cards that are only available online. Virtual cards generally do not allow refunds after deposits, so they cannot be used to deposit funds into XM. XM has a rule that deposits must be withdrawn using the same payment method, so prepaid virtual cards, which do not allow deposits to be refunded (withdrawn), cannot be used. Please choose a card other than a prepaid virtual card or another deposit method.

Solution: Open an additional yen-denominated account and deposit funds into it. Deposit funds using BXONE.

XMTrading has designated accounts that can be used for deposits via each online wallet. Deposits via bitwallet and STICPAY are only available to yen-denominated accounts. If you specify a deposit destination other than a yen-denominated account, you will not be able to deposit. To deposit funds into a US dollar or euro-denominated account, please use BXONE or another deposit method. To deposit funds from your online wallet into your XMTrading trading account, you must have enough wallet balance to make the deposit. If your online wallet balance is insufficient, you will not be able to make the deposit. Please prepare the funds by depositing funds into your online wallet or withdrawing funds from a trading account with another company to your online wallet. Also, there is no fee for depositing funds from your online wallet to XM, but the fee for depositing funds into your online wallet is borne by the customer.

The email address or ID entered for the online wallet is incorrect.

Solution: Enter the correct details for each online wallet

When depositing with bitwallet, you will need to enter the email address registered with bitwallet when making the deposit from the XMTrading member page. If there are any errors in the email address registered with bitwallet, the deposit will not be possible (will not be reflected), so please enter the correct information. Also, when depositing with BXONE, you will need to enter your BXONE account ID, so please make sure that the information entered there is correct.

If an error occurs on the payment screen of each online wallet, please check the maintenance information for each online wallet and contact the support desk of the online wallet provider. Also, if you need to deposit money into your XMTrading account urgently, please deposit using a credit card or debit card, which will be reflected immediately, just like online wallet deposits, or using another online wallet.

Apple Pay can be used by registering a credit card, debit card, etc. in Wallet on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc. in advance. Apple Pay is not supported on Windows PCs or Android devices, so when depositing funds, please make sure you are depositing funds using an Apple device (iPhone, Mac, etc.).
